dress: h&m (similar) // jacket: target // necklace: similar // shoes: ann taylor (similar)
This dress has become one of my go-to's. I picked it up at h&m in NYC last year (OKC has since gotten an h&m - yay!) and I wear it non-stop. It's a thick material, which is important for fitted dresses (it disguises those lumps and bumps if ya know what I mean). It's also a great length for a 5'10"-er like me. And this jacket. I finally made myself buy a utility jacket that fit well. I had this one for maybe 8ish years and it was just always too short. I haven't been super-into purchasing things lately (side note: I'm soooo over bloggers constantly pushing purchases. Is it just me or is that all blogging/instagram is about right now?) but I have been really into collecting classic pieces that fit well. So apparently I'm naming this outfit "classic pieces that fit well."
You hit the nail on the head with your comments about all the consumerism at the end! You have such a great philosophy. It can be a slippery slope to fall into the trap of wanting things... As some of my friends put it: The more people have, the more they want. But the less people have, the more they give.
ReplyDeleteI almost picked up those shoes at a secondhand store but I put them back because I thought they might only work with outfits that are too formal for (most of) my job. (I know some people get squicked out at used shoes but it doesn't bother me if they look new.) And I just gave up instagram for that very reason.
ReplyDeleteVery cute outfit! I didn't realize you were 5'10", I bet getting good lengths is tricky.
ReplyDeleteI love this look! Very classic indeed!
ReplyDeleteI hope utility jackets stay in style for a looooonnnnggg time! Yours is very cute Ashley! And as far as purchasing, our family of six lives in 1400 square feet, so we are forced to go somewhat of a minimalist route. Honestly, I'm totally fine with that. How many legos does one need?? And how many different skirts do I need??
ReplyDeleteI totally feel that, everyone wants you to buy their products or support their friends doing, admittedly awesome things, and purchase t shirts. It's overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteBut on another note, you look fab!
Cute, cute. Clearly worth-it purchases, and even better that they work so nicely together! I recently replaced my ill-fitting cargo jacket too and I should have done it forever ago - if you wear something that much, get the one that's best for you and then just embrace the repetition, I say :)
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit so much! I need to find those same pieces for myself! <3
