Tour Through Blogland

My blog-friend Laura recently included me in her "Tour Through Blogland" which was a lot of fun. I have enjoyed reading other similar posts, so I was excited to share my own! So here are the questions that I am supposed to answer for my little "tour." They definitely make me feel like a serious/legit blogger (spoiler: I'm not) but I had fun answering them! Here goes:

1.What am I working on?
Well, as I am writing this, I am making a list of ways to get myself to go into labor :) Truthfully, doing recent maternity style posts has been really fun. I've had to be creative with a limited wardrobe, though I am ready to have my full wardrobe back. I am actually working on a big post about things I learned about dressing the bump and tips/recommendations. I've actually been having a great time writing it and I am excited to share.

2. How does my work differ from others in its genre?
Hmmm... I really don't think I'm different, BUT if I have to answer I would say that I don't take clothes too seriously. Fashion is fun, but it's not that big of a deal. I try to limit my spending and be creative with what I wear. I also prefer to share humorous commentary (at least I think it's humorous, which isn't really saying much) with my outfits.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?
I do it because I love it! Blogging is my favorite hobby. Even though I don't make any money or get much free stuff from it, I really enjoy it and I don't think I'll be stopping any time soon. I have met some great people through blogging - a few have even become real-life friends which is pretty cool. So, if you live in the OKC area, let's hang out.

4. How does my writing/creating process work?
Well, I spend a lot of time creating and processing... just kidding. Actually, I take pictures whenever I have a decent outfit on, the lighting is good and I don't feel guilty for asking my husband. Then I edit the pictures and put them in a draft post with all the outfit links. I usually write the actual posts the morning of, because I want to share whatever weird thing I am thinking about that day. Also worth noting, last year I started using a blog calendar/notebook where I write out my ideas for posts and it has been great as far as not getting behind and/or running out of things to post about.

And now, I am so excited to introduce you to three bloggers that I just really love!

I’m an English major turned work-from-home editor, mom to a sweet redheaded little man, and wife to a doctor-in-training who is finally in his fifth and final year of residency. In all my spare time, I’m an amateur blogger and runner and an accomplished restaurant explorer, guacamole maker, and mix & match suitcase packer. My blog In Residence chronicles various and sundry things I enjoy doing, wearing, reading and making, ventures out & about in our current city and other travels, and most importantly: making the most of life, no matter what stage we're in.

KatKate of a Journey in Style
Upon starting graduate school, I realized that the hoodies and sweats I wore regularly in undergrad would no longer cut it. But I didn't know what would cut it. Thus began A Journey in Style. I'm (still) going for my PhD in philosophy, so research and thinking dominates my time. The rest of my time is spent prepping lecture notes and discussion questions, as I also teach an intro-level ethics course. Blogging is my favorite way to spend my free time. Oh... and I love bears.

Claire of My Devising
I started my blog after graduating from college in 2008 and had no idea it would become one of my favorite hobbies.  I write about my life - motherhood, spirituality, anxiety/PPD, running, and music seem to be the most common topics.  Writing about the real and honest moments of my life is what I enjoy most.  Along with blogging, I love songwriting and, of course, spending time with my wonderful family.  My husband, Colt, and two children, Duke and Nova, are the absolute joys of my life.

  1. Thanks again for the shout-out :) Fun to read your responses to these prompts - I'm with you on blogging just plain being a fun hobby. I like doing it, I like having internet friends, and I like even having real-life friends that I've connected with because of blogs.

Also, dying to know whether anything on your list of things to make yourself go into labor have worked yet!!

  2. Keeping a journal for blog ideas is so clever! I hit a couple weeks where I had no clue what to write. And then I started trying to plan my posts whenever I was out running errands, and now I have a backlog of ideas. Funny how that works. If I'm ever in OKC, you will know, because I will have made a get-together happen. Thanks again for including me in your tour :)

  3. I was away for a week and I feel like I missed so much! I'm also really glad you plan to continue blogging for the foreseeable future.

I hope you find a way to star labor soon! Good luck! We'll all be there in spirit (I hope that doesn't sound creepy).

  4. So fun to learn more about your process. I just bought a cute little notebook I hope to use to track ideas.

  5. You're totally funny! I'm excited to read your post about dressing your bump. :)

  6. cant wait to hear more about your tips and whatnot. hope you go into labor soon ;) and for what its worth i think you're pretty humorous lol.

  7. That's so funny! I just started writing in the margins of my calendar my ideas! It helps to have a gathering places for topics to refer back to if I am having trouble. And spoiler: nothing on the internet works to induce labor. I tried them all except castor oil because it sounded way too gross. Good luck though! :)

  8. I am so glad I got to know you better through this, I look forward to your hiding your baby bump tips post soon. Rachel xo

  9. Aww, I love you + Anne + Kate! I have not checked out Claire's blog before - I'll have to head on over and give her some love as well!

  10. Loved reading this and excited to check out 3 new blogs!

  11. What a fun idea! I'm curious to read that post about maternity style! You have lookes great throughout your entire pregnancy so I'd love to hear your insight!

  12. I first read that title as "Tour Through Baghdad," LOL. I was thinking, "Wow, I used to live in the UAE, we should talk about our adventures in the Middle East sometime!" Of course, you are having your own adventures right now -- all the best for your soon-to-be-newborn! :)

Thanks so much for your comment! I reply to my comments via email, but I can't do that if you are a no-reply blogger (if you don't know what that means, you probably are). Check out this tutorial to fix it!
