May 2014 - Where My Dolla Bills Went

***Hi Friends! It's been a while. I went to NYC last week and I decided to take a little blog break. It was wonderful but I am happy to be back. I am looking forward to sharing about my trip and catching up with you all!***

I actually bought a few things this month! Yay. I didn't buy anything in February or April and in March I only used gift cards. Obviously, that felt pretty awesome, but it was also kind of nice to spend some cold, hard cash this month. Here is what I bought:

1. H&M tank maxi So the one I bought actually has tiny little white polka dots on it (h&m's website/inventory is the worst and I couldn't find it). Maxi dresses are my favorite thing to wear in the summer, so this was an easy buy. Plus, the fabric is so soft, it essentially feels like a nightgown.  $17.95

2. I actually bought this Old Navy shirt because I saw my cousin wearing it (thanks Sarah!) and it looks awesome. It's basically a t-shirt but it has a silky feel and looks really dressy. I have already worn it like three times since I bought it, so the $11.97 I spent was definitely worth it.

3.This white lace skirt was kind of a impulse buy from h&m, but I justified it to myself since I don't own a white skirt. And it's hard to tell in the picture, but the lace detailing is really pretty.  $14.95

4. Converse sneakers  ($44.95) I kind of surprised myself when I bought these. White sneaks are pretty trendy right now, and I usually resists trends, but I just really wanted these for some reason. I wore them A LOT in New York last week, so I think that was my justification to myself. They really are super comfortable and I feel like I will get a lot of use out of them. We'll see.

5. Ann Taylor d'orsay black flats.  So I've never owned black flats. How weird is that? I have gotten away with because I have some payless flats that have black on them, but they are starting to fall apart so I have been looking for a new pair for a few months. I stumbled upon these at Ann Taylor last week (originally $98 - on sale for $39) and they fit perfectly and are really comfortable. I actually wore them walking around Times Square and my feet didn't hurt at all!

Total: $128.82
Definitely a high spending month for me, but since I pretty much haven't bought anything since January and I did get two pairs of shoes, I feel OK about it. How was your spending this month?

  1. I love my Converse and wear them a lot.! Super cute black flats and I love anything lace so that skirt is perfect.

  2. i think you did really well! especially after not buying for so long. that skirt is so pretty, and that maxi sounds cute - i like polka dots! i never got on the converse bandwagon, only because i have biggish feet and i feel they look weird on me, though i do love them on other people.
I cannot wait to hear / read about NYC lady!! and I kinda missed you :) welcome back!

  3. Can't wait to hear about your trip! I've been debating a pair of Converse since mine old ones are falling apart. Love that Old Navy tee! Blue and white prints are my favorite. :)

  4. Ooo I love your tee and skirt! They will be perfect for summer! Hope you had a great trip too :)

  5. I bought a pair of gray converse right before my NYC trip in March. Love them and can't wait to wear them more this summer. I wish we had an h&m nearby. I love that store.

  6. Great finds!! Love that maxi. I've been looking for a new pair of black flats so I'll have to give these a try. Looking forward to a NYC blog recap :)

  7. What great buys! I agree that converse are trendy, but c'mon they are just white sneakers! I wear mine a lot. Even if they stop being so trendy, I can't see how they can be "out."

  8. My spending was terrible. I need to take a page out of your book! I'm trying to do a no shop summer. I love those flats too. Definitely a good investment! Can't wait to see them styled. Happy your home safe.

  9. Glad you're back! Can't wait to hear about your trip. I totally bought that same shirt from Old Navy!

  11. These are great!! I also got a black maxi and white Converse this month! Sounds like we had similar ideas in mind...

A t-shirt that feels and looks dressier than it looks?? I must see this tee for myself. I love the fun print of it!

  12. I want white converse so bad! I love any trend that is all about comfortable shoes :)

  13. So jealous you were in NYC!! Hope you had a fab trip. I am so impressed you haven't shopped since January. That takes will power. I love the Converse sneakers! I have been wanting some really bad (and I want to monogram them!). Love the d'orsay flats too!

  14. Sooo jealous that the d'orsay flats worked for you! I've tried on so many pairs, but my dang feet just won't stay in them! What's up with that?! (a case of narrow feet, most likely) Can't wait to see you wear that t-shirt!

  15. I'm loving that maxi dress! They are so easy to wear!

  16. Great picks!! Congrats on your shopping ban! I think I will try that for a month again this summer! Susan

  17. Well done this month! Classic pieces that are totally remixable. I'm loving the white skirt- super cute!

  18. hi Ashley! hope you had a fun trip!!

so I can't believe you've never owned strictly black flats...as I would always tell my roommate in college, if you ever find yourself asking the question, "What shoes should I wear with this outfit?" the answer is always black flats! meet your new best friends! those are super cute too and bonus that they are comfy

    ♥ perfectly Priya

  19. Great finds! You did great considering you have not bought much this year! I wear my converse all of the time. They will be cute with the maxi dress! Glad you had a fun trip!
