Happy Ash Wednesday! I don't usually participate in Lent, but I love the idea of using a specific time period to really focus on Christ by giving something up or incorporating a new habit in your life. Since I have not been awesome in regards to my goals for 2014, I am taking a moment today to reevaluate and start again. Starting with waking up early and spending some time with God. This morning has been awesome in that way. I feel so good, you guys. Like, if you walked into my house right now you would see a crazy grin on my face, good.
As far as the outfit goes, this was one of those "if you don't know what to wear, just wear black and white" things. Even though I discovered how much I love color when I looked back at 2013, I still always come back to black and white. Especially at work. It's just so easy. And of course, I've done it before: once, twice, three times actually. What is your go-to outfit when you're running late for work?

EEk thanks for reminding me ! love your outfit ! u look so chic !

Pretty shirt! When I'm in a rush I usually wear a jersey maxi skirt, a scarf and a top knot! That's my go-to lazy style, yeah. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great outfit! I am really loving this pretty lace top and your black ankle boots! My last minute, lazy morning outfits are so not this cute. It's usually a striped sweater/shirt with a pair of tan dress pants haha.
ReplyDeleteI love the lace top! I'm seriously thinking about the one you linked to from Target. I wish it was in stores so I could try it on. Maybe I'll order 2 sizes and return the one that doesn't fit... My last minute outfits usually consist of a dress and cardigan. Then I feel like I put together an outfit when I didn't really have to think that hard!
ReplyDeleteI love black and white for my go-to. I usually reach for a dress if I'm running late on time (if I shaved my legs that is ;)) just because it's only one piece I have to worry about
ReplyDeleteI should really wake up 15 minutes earlier and read the Bible or pray. I think it would be such a great, positive way to start my day. Thanks for the idea! And yes, I always reach for black when I don't know what to wear. I love that there is no thinking involved with that color!
ReplyDeleteI love that top!!! Can I steal it??? ;-) And I think Lent is a perfect season to refocus on the Lord. How great that you're resuming your morning Bible studies. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty top! Black and white is a great go-to and always works.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this top! Its so fun yet elegant at the same time.
ReplyDeleteyou can never go wrong with black and white! always a classic. you look great~
ReplyDeleteand i hear you on needing those times to just stop and cleanse our souls so to speak and start fresh. so needed.
good thoughts!
So, I had three immediate thoughts all converging on me at once when I first looked at these images. One, that shirt is just SO lovely. Two, I thought about how I tried to make a necklace that looked like yours and failed. (When I saw that your necklace was a DIY, I felt a smidge sheepish about my failed attempt. When I finish this comment, I will go click on the DIY link.) Three, again with the pretty lighting. Feel free to tell your husband I complimented his picture taking skills again.
ReplyDeleteHmm...my go-to outfit would have to be one of the following:
* skirt + wide belt + tucked in shirt + cardigan/blazer + tights + booties (fall/winter)
* skinny pants + boyfriend cardigan + tucked in shirt + belt + tall boots or flats
If it works, it works. Right?

OH MY GOSH, I just realized YOUR tutorial is the one I tried to follow when I failed the first time! Oh my goodness, I am laughing at myself right now, and I CLEARLY need to take better notes. I probably could have done without sharing this information with you, but what's really crazy is that I saw this tutorial via a Google search close to a year ago and just recently became enamored with your blog. Funny how things come full circle.
ReplyDeleteyour necklace is so pretty against that texture!
ReplyDeletelovely!

My go-to usually ends up being black pants and a sweater. Usually there's black and white incorporated. Maybe it's because you can't make a mistake with black and white? They match. It's not like putting two colors together that might not match. That, or black and white don't draw as much attention to oneself as colors do? Who knows. Anyway, I admire you for taking time to reflect.
ReplyDeleteYour top is so pretty and girly, looove it! The bold turquoise necklace is the cherry on top. :) I love your style!
ReplyDeletexo Always, Abby
I looovveee that lace blouse on you! It is gorgeous and I love the bright necklace you paired it with.
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong with black and white! And that necklace is too cute!

Great idea. I've always seen Lent has something Catholics participate in (I'm going to have to do my research), so I've never participated in it. However, I do like the idea of just thinking of it as a time to draw closer to God. I know that when I start my days with Him, the rest of the day seems to be a lot smoother than those days that I wake up, forget to pray, and stumble around from dawn 'til dusk!

So simple, but that's why it works! I think green statement necklaces are my favorite.

Black and white is always a winner - yes. Especially on chilly days when there's no way I'm spending twenty minutes in front of my closet ;)
