I didn't do a budget post in February because, well, I didn't buy anything in February. And yes, it felt so good. I bought a few things this month, but I mostly used gift cards I had been hoarding. Oh yes, I am a gift card hoarder. I've written about it once... no twice before, so I won't go into it too much except to say I've had the Francesca's card since Christmas and the Anthro card for a year. A year. I'm weird.
1. I finally made it to Anthropologie to spend my gift card and of course I ended up in the sale section. This skirt was $19.99, which is pretty much insane for Anthro. It was originally $158 (what?) so it pretty much forced me to buy it.
2. I had a gift card to Francesca's that I got from taking back a gift I got for Christmas. I've never shopped there before (I feel like most of the stuff is a little young for me) but I was excited to spend my free money. I got earrings really similar to these that I love. They were $12, but, you know, free money.
3. I am a dress person. I love skirts, and dresses are just so easy to wear (one piece and you're done!). I fell in love with this pretty navy fit-and-flare dress. It fits really well and I don't own a navy dress so it felt like a good purchase. It is on sale for $69.95, but I used my giftcard.
4. And the final Francesca's purchase: this maxi dress. I mentioned on Friday that I am loving cutout dresses (the kind that are not too flashy) and I found this pretty dress on Sunday, so it was meant to be. I am kind of obsessed with maxis (again, that whole dress - one piece thing) and I am so excited for it to get warm so I can wear them again! I will probably wear it to work this summer (with a cardigan of course!) so I feel like I will get a lot of wear out of it.
Total: $149.94
Total spent from budget: $0 (victory!)

Holy cow! An Anthro skirt for twenty bucks?!? Lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteI love that dress! So cute!
ReplyDeleteI have two gift cards to J Crew (which I love to hate, because their clothes are SO expensive) from Christmas and my birthday, and I spent $30 yesterday on an on sale pair of shorts. Every time I go in there I look at something I love and think "I would never spend $85 on a shirt!" even when I have double that in gift cards!
ReplyDeleteThe maxi dress you purchased is absolutely GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteI don't even go into Anthro anymore because of the prices. But that skirt? I am in love! Can't wait to see you wear it! The navy dress is such a great closet staple, too!
ReplyDeleteWow, such cute pieces! Nice job holding onto those gift cards, they served you well this month!
ReplyDeleteoh that navy dress. i think i am in love :)
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is beautiful, such a great find! The colors are so rich, I'm looking forward to see how you style it. Anthro always has such unique pieces.
ReplyDeleteLove the fit and flare dress! So pretty!
ReplyDeletegift cards are magic! I'm also a hoarder of them!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous! I'd hoard gift cards if I had them, too. I can't wait to see you wear these pretty new things!
ReplyDeleteall of these items are gorgeous -especially the navy dress. pretty! i couldn't hold on to a gift card for more than 24 hours to save my life. lol!
ReplyDeleteWow, those finds are all so pretty!! I can't believe full price at Anthro though -- "what" is right.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently hoarding a Sephora gift card -- partly because I've never been!

THAT SKIRT. I mean, how often is it that anyone can walk out of Anthro spending under $100, let alone under $20? Love.
ReplyDeleteLovely purchases! And I also hoard gift cards, so I don't think that's weird at all :)

You did AMAZING! I totally get the gift card hoarding mentality, you want to make sure that what you're getting is just right and worthy of using it on. I looove #1 and #3 especially.
ReplyDeleteSUCH a victory. No spending in February and basically no spending in March. You're my inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLove the scalloped edge on that Anthro skirt- gorgeous! And the navy dress looks like a great investment piece. So remixable and goes with a lot. Great purchases!

WOW, this is your best shopping month yet. I love everything you got and all so pretty for Spring/Summer. I love the Colors Green and Blue especially for the warmer weather (I know you do too). As a matter of fact my recent Outfit I posted (yesterday) has lots of Green and Blue in it. =) The Maxi Dress is my most favorite piece but the Skirt is a close second. I would never ever pay $159 on a Skirt. I think $70 is the most I may ever paid for a skirt which was wool, lined, midi length and Dona Karan. You got yours for a steal. I have never shopped or even set foot at an Anthro and for the first time ever, last year when I was in the States I shopped at a Francesca's. I have definitely seen many people wear Anthropologie or seen their clothes online. While some are truly beautiful and unique, almost none are worth the big bucks. I actually think they have similar styles with Francesca's. though Francesca has way better prices and sales. I loved their jewelry, especially.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, to curb my shopping and remix my closet, I am starting the infamous 30 for 30 challenge today. Read more about it on my post, today.
Happy Tuesday Night! Ada. =)
Nothing beats the thrill of an amazing find, especially at Anthro. I'm STILL talking about a pair of Current/Elliot jeans I scored at their SoHo store for $19.95 last fall. What the what?!?!
ReplyDeleteThat navy dress is so cute, and I'm a bit bummed out that I've never seen a Francesca's before, because I'd literally get that same dress.

Something About That
Giftcard shopping is seriously the best. I think you found some amazing items. Francesca's is a dangerous place for me because everything is super pretty and also costs more than I typically like to spend on clothes. The fact that you found an Anthro skirt fore $20 is a win in itself!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but I love reading this post. It's always fun to see what things you found. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been on the hunt for a khaki skirt and I can't find one anywhere! I've been looking since fall, so if you come by one, I'd love it if you'd shoot me an email! :)
I don't know you personally, but just from following your blog for awhile I would have seen that skirt in a store and instantly thought of you. Love all your shopping picks this month and appreciate a less expensive shopping budget. Some of the blogs I follow have a $300 per month clothing budget which is COMPLETELY unrealistic for my stay at home mom/work super part time lifestyle right now. So it's fun to see what you can do with less!
ReplyDeleteWow! You did so good! I love everything you bought! That Anthro skirt is a steal and I cannot wait to see how you style it! I bet you make it so cool! Staying on budget is a hard thing to do! You are so inspiring! Kudos! : )
