I picked up this planter at IKEA a few years ago and I really like the rustic look, but one day I went crazy and started painting everything. The teal paint is actually leftover from my favorite DIY necklace (apparently I love leftover DIY supplies?!). I just taped off the pot, and painted it with a disposable sponge brush. I am loving the pop of color!
Ah, and this makeover. The silliest of them all. My husband brought home this bottle of whiskey and said, "I knew you'd love the the bottle." He knows me so well. I thought it would make a great jar for the bubble bath that I keep on hand for, you know, taking a bath. So. I used goo gone to remove the paper and created a little label using chalkboard contact paper leftover from my pantry jars.
So there you have it. Three little projects that were cheap and easy, which is the way I like everything. Well, not everything :) Anyway, what little projects are you working on? Anyone ever used an old whiskey jar in a project before?
These are so simple, yet genius! I love how you reused the whiskey bottle for something fun. I have a cute tequila bottle I've been trying to figure out what to do with. I love your idea!
ReplyDeleteThose look awesome, great DIY work.
ReplyDeleteChalkboard contact paper?! Whaaaaa? I need that. I have the paint, which is perfect for irregular projects, but I think the contact paper would save tons of time.
ReplyDeleteI love these projects! I have a lamp in our living room I want to spray paint and find a new shade for too. I'm waiting for the weather to get better to do a few painting/staining projects! I think this Spring/Summer will be busy!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cute! And they seem pretty simple if you have the materials on hand.
ReplyDeleteThey all look great and the whiskey jar is definitely my fav. :-)

The lamp looks so cute! I can't believe that is a Whiskey bottle!! Love how you re-purposed it.
ReplyDeleteI love the lamp! Fun and simple updates! I have so many to do on my list. And my husband would have totally done that same thing with the bottle. I'm actually surprised we don't have it in our bar downstairs because of all the whiskey he collects!
ReplyDeletethat lamp & vase are GREAT!! :)
ReplyDeleteCa-ute! Um, I love them all, but my favorite I think is the whiskey jar--genius!
ReplyDeletelook at you - you clever thing! I feel like one can never stop decorating their home so keep up with the DIY's - especially since you are really good at them.

These are all so fun! I am so impressed that you can think of these quick little updates to make old items look amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI love all three projects! I have so many things I would like to do around my house, but there is never enough time. I feel like I can barely get the minimum done! Also, I love that whiskey bottle too! I have a thing for bottles as well.

The planter and the lamp are my favourites. Literally everything can be made to look expensive with gold spray paint!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! The lamp is darling and I am going to have to paint one of my planters now :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the spray painted lamp! There's actually a lamp in our "garage sale pile" that isn't too cute ... however, spray painting it gold would totally make it work. I just may be digging it back out. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun projects! I love doing little overhauls like that...makes a big difference! I want to make a DIY headboard and upholster it and revamp our master bedroom...I think we need some new bedding after 5 years too! I think a trip to Marshalls or TJ Maxx is in my future...

Not only are you a great DIYer but a Clever little writer too. Loved that last paragraph and that last DIY is by far the most creative you have done. I super love the new look of your lamp. Looks like something you can find at Anthropologie. =)
