I bought this dress from h&m for about $7 last year, but I haven't worn it until now. Why? It had weird sleeves (long-ish with weird elastic at the bottom). I bought it with the intention of altering the sleeves, but of course it took me a whole year to get around to doing a fifteen minute project. Please tell me I'm not the only person with a pile of "projects" hidden in their guest room closet.
Also, once again I am denying that "fall transitioning" exists. Guys, I was so tempted to throw booties on for this photo, but then I decided that was just crazy. It's 95 degrees here - definitely not fall weather. So I'm holding out. But I did have my first pumpkin spice latte yesterday and let's just say... I'm ready for you, October.

Love the dress! And I'm with you on procrastinating on projects. I just finished one that I'd been waiting over a year to do, and it took me less than an hour altogether. It's bad. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a sewing/mending pile in my dining room! I swear half the project would only take a few minutes too but they sit there for months! But I'm glad you altered your sleeves, they look nice and I'm sure a big improvement!
ReplyDeleteThe Occasional Indulgence
ugh, my pile is out of control... let us not speak of it, but instead congratulate you on finishing working on this one! i'd say it buys you at least six months before you start to feel guilty about the to-do pile again!
ReplyDeleteit's a cute dress, and it looks like it will be very versatile and useful!
This dress is amazing! I know what kind of sleeves you mean, I usually avoid them. But altering the sleeves was a perfect solution, especially when this beautiful dress was on sale for so cheap!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is so pretty! I can't believe you haven't worn it until now! And kudos to you for finding it at a steal of only 7 bucks :)

I love the vintage look of this dress! So elegant! I definitely don't buy things I have to "fix" because I'm lazy and know I never will wear it..lol, so good job for finally fixing it! :)

I have a problem with my pile :) I have to clean it out every once in a while and I rediscover all the great ideas I need to work on. Love that necklace! Making something similar to that is also on my to do list
ReplyDeleteI adore that necklace! It just looks so lovely with the colors in the dress too!

Beautiful Dress & Necklace. Can't believe you haven't worn it yet. This is one of the prettiest outfits this year. =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning dress! It has a nice vintage feel to it - very classy! You look lovely :) xo
ReplyDeleteI wish I had altering skills like you. If I could alter, I would have a guest closet full of projects. I'm happy to hear you passed on the booties... but I would love to see this dress with booties and a cardigan in a couple of months :)
ReplyDeleteYou lok great and good job altering it. I'm the same way, I thought about shortening a dress for months before I did it...15 minutes later the dress was perfect. It's still hot here too but starting to cool off and I'm ok with that :)
ReplyDeleteGinny
I'm with you on the transitioning. It's been close to 90 in Georgia and therefore I'm still reaching for shorts. Impressed that you can alter something!!! I've always wanted to sew - oh and play guitar. Ah well, maybe someday. Can I borrow the necklace? hehe
ReplyDeleteI am totally the same. I need stop buying 'projects' no matter how cheap they may be! The dress looks great, glad you finally altered it!
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
Hey, I have this dress! It's one of my favorites (and I love how you altered the sleeves.) I like the green with it too! So pretty :)
ReplyDeleteAsh, I think we all have clothes sitting in our closet for days (sometimes months) before we alter them. :) I like the dress and the necklace looks great with it.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress & necklace, dear!

Lovely print on the dress and I adore the necklace. I am totally the same about buying clothes and taking a long time to adjust them. Actuall I am on my way to get a dress adjusted right now because I want to actually wear it on saturday for the first time.
ReplyDeleteCould not be more obsessed with that dress. You look so darling. Great post, love. If you get a moment, I have two new looks I'd love to hear your thoughts on. :) xo

That dress is so pret-tay! And $7, seriously? Fab.
ReplyDeleteI have a whole basket full of "project" clothing I can't wear until I make alterations, we should totally have a sewing night! And you little sneak, did you not have a PSL last week? I didn't pay attention to your drink order, but if I had known you ordered something else on our specific PSL date, I woulda...jk. Glad you had one now though ;)
That is a really cute dress! You look gorgeous ♡

this dress is gorgeous, i'm glad you finally got around to wearing it! i like seeing cute dresses with sleeves since i think they're hard to come across, but i totally know the feeling of having every intention of doing a simple alteration that doesn't get completed for months later!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet outfit, you are cute as a button!

Such a cute dress. So romantic. I completely understand the pile of unfinished projects.... Mine are crochet projects that I promised to others at the beginning of summer and have yet to finish. *sigh*

ReplyDeleteCute dress! *raises hand* I have several clothes in the pile. All needing simple alterations.
ReplyDeleteAshely! I'm sorry it has taken me FORever to get my butt over here. Thanks for your sweet comment, I'm following along with you as well!!
ReplyDeleteSuch an adorable dress! I hardly try my hand at altering anything, that would just be a bad experience for everyone. I'm in Nashville so I'm right there with you, not quite fall yet! Let's wear all of our dresses one last time!
Btw- your little coffee mug FB/Twitter/Pinterest buttons are THE cutest ones I have seen. Fact.
