Outfit of the Week - 70s Inspired

When you had to dress up "decades theme" in high school, what decade did you choose? I tended to lean toward 70's (bell-bottoms, tie-dye, headbands, etc), but that's because the 80's workout look (leggings over tights over a leotard) didn't really work for me. Looking back, I find it ironic that all anyone chose was 70's or 80's... aren't the 20s a much more exciting era, fashion-wise? Maybe high school-ers choose the 20's now because of Downton Abbey? It wouldn't surprise me... high school girls are A LOT cooler now than me and my friends were. I don't let myself feel too bad about it... I tell myself it's because of the internet, which only served as a way to instant messaging your crushes when I was sixteen :)

Blazer: Kohl's
Button-Down: JC Penney
Jeans: Thrifted/BR (similar)
Heels: Nine West
Necklace: Gifted

Want to help me out? I am trying to add more information to my "about me" section and it turns out I have a really hard time writing information about myself. So, I've created an anonymous form where YOU can ask me anything you like. Yep, anything. Well, actually, if you ask me something inappropriate or creepy (like, what is your home address, or something like that) I probably won't answer, but I'll put together a post with answers to the questions. Guys, it will be SO FUN.

So ask away! Here is the form: ask a question!

  1. I really love this outfit! The blazer is so nice (are there black details on it?) and looks great with the color of your top. And I was just saying recently that a blazer with bootcut jeans is really classy look.

    1. Yes - it has blocks of black down the sides - it makes it really slimming!

  2. I love this outfit! I keep emailing my sister links to your blog every time you wear this gorgeous blazer because she has the same one ;)

And I agree. The 20's, even 40's and 50's! Swing dresses? Sigh....
Although in high school I didn't know much about fashion or eras.

    1. Oh good - I'm glad I can be helpful to someone else with this blazer - I love it!

Gah, swing dresses! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were all walking around wearing those?!

I have a hard time with the whole about me page too. It's not so easy to put together. Best wishes to you. I know it will all come together and turn into a great introduction to you and your blog.

  5. That is so funny you mentioned the 20's. That's exactly how I look back at high school too. Why did I not use the 20s? Such fun clothes. But I always rocked an 80s worker outer look! With legwarmers and head sweatband to boot!
Love the color of your shirt btw!

    1. I guess the 70's and 80's were a lot easier? My mom still has workout videos she does from the 80's and my sister and I always laugh about how their outfits are actually back in style!

  6. This is 70's professional look as opposed to 70's hippie look. As for personal info, why not leave things as is as your blog speaks for itself. I only say this as I had a cyber stalker & now only leave anonymous comments & do not blog anymore, got off Linked In & kept my profile hidden in facebook.

  10. I loveee the blazer! I am in serious need of a white blazer, especially with spring right around the corner! And in high school I went had to wear a unisex uniform so we NEVER got to dress up for anything. If I could've dressed up, I think I would have definitely worn something 80s work-out, just for fun! Or maybe something with shoulder pads. Lord knows my mom had more than enough of those ;)

    1. That is so sad you never got to dress up! I feel like most of my pictures from high school were of me and my friends wearing strange clothes... well, you were probably saved from some embarrassing pictures :)

  17. I always chose the 70s too! (Which is silly considering my hair would've been the PERFECT 80s hair. Totally would've thrived in that decade.)

  20. I've never been a huge fan of the 70s or 80s. I'd probably be more likely to go for 40s or 50s fashion, or even 20s like you said!
