How do you feel about Valentine's Day? I've never been a hater (black balloons and depressing breakup songs) or a lover (countdown to Feb 14th and heart garlands everywhere). I usually just embrace it, even back when I didn't have a Valentine. My besties and I used to celebrate by getting Chinese takeout, watching Johnny Depp movies, and eating Ben & Jerry's ice cream. We even exchanged homemade gifts. Now that I actually have a Valentine, the holiday is even
more laid-back. Eric and I have a tradition of buying fancy food from Whole Foods, bringing it home to cook and watching a movie. No gifts or anything. We had our little celebration this past weekend and it was perfect.
What are your plans for valentines?
Guys, I don't do much in the pink and red clothing department. That's why I love this shirt. There are little hearts all over it and it's NAVY. Please tell me that with the pink necklace it totally seems festive?!
Jacket: Anthro (via a garage sale)
Bracelets: H&M
I love this outfit, the top is so flattering and I love the pop of the bubble necklace. My hubby and I are t goi out this valentines day because my father in law Is in town helping my husband get the basement finished. I think we'll probably go out for dinner and a movie in a few weeks.

Thanks, Ginny! I'm all about celebrating when you can - for us it was the weekend before!
Deletei feel the same way about V-day...
ReplyDeleteneither a hate nor love relationship!
my hubbi has informed me he will be cooking
dinner at home tomorrow night :)
and we try to spread the love every day!

This Life Is Yours Blog
Aw, that is so sweet that your husband is going to cook you dinner! I think that is even more romantic than going out :)
DeleteThis is a great shirt and the bubble necklace works super well with it!!
ReplyDeleteOur Valentine's Day is very similar, we've found it's not worth it to go out. We make a nice dinner at home and sometimes splurge on a bottle of wine or a good bottle of scotch!
Oooh scotch... yum! I agree - it's really not worth it to try to get reservations and spend a ton of money. Staying in is just as fun!
DeleteWe used to call it "Happy Single Awareness Day!" BUT not really haters...just ingnored it! I do like all the pink and red stuff that Target puts out for it. So, I usually do a sales run the weekend afterwards!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit!
Haha, yes I've heard that from a few friends :) I was actually just thinking about the sales... I'm thinking I might have to run to Target tomorrow!
DeleteMy hubby and I will be cooking a special dinner. I hate going out. It's always so crowded!
ReplyDeleteMe too! It's almost more romantic to stay in, cook something fancy and light some candles!
DeleteHehe yes, it's totally festive! I think you look adorable! That top is super pretty! As for V Day, I have no idea what we're doing. I made a gift for the hubs and am pretty much leaving it up to him as far as what we do. Doesn't matter to me as long as we're together. Plus, I mean, live every day like it's Valentine's Day, right?! ;)
ReplyDeletexo
Haha yes - that is the perfect motto - live everyday like it's Valentines Day!
DeleteWe're short on money recently, so we won't be doing a nice dinner like we normally do. But I wonder if that's honestly healthier for us anyway in so many different ways. We shouldn't have to spend crazy amounts of money to show someone we care, right? Instead, this year, we'll be kicking back at home, probably with a good movie and a specially prepared dinner like you guys.
ReplyDeletePS - I love that outfit, and navy+pink is one of my favorite combos... so I'm all thumbs up from here! :)
Exactly! V-Day is a little corny anyway, so I think doing your own thing is much better! You shouldn't have to spend a ton of cash on candy and flowers that will eventually be gone. Have fun with dinner and a movie!
DeleteI love it! Very "chill" Valentine-esque. :)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, that's how I roll :)
DeleteVery festive. And I'm a take it or leave Valentines kind of girl. Though I certainly don't hate it when the hubby brings home a gift.;)
ReplyDeleteHaha exactly - a gift is never anything to complain about :)
DeleteI teach dance so I will be at my studio on Vday... I love this look! That necklace looks great. I have those nine west heels. They are my favorite! I wear them all the time.

Fashion and Beauty Finds
This is my first time to wear the heels! I had been wanting a pair of nude heels for a while so I was stoked to find these at TJ Maxx. They are so comfortable - I see a lot more of them in my future :)
DeleteCute necklace! I've never been into Valentine's day either.. but I kind of want to do something this year! :) Found you via the Real Girl Glam link up
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Nikki at www.bedazzlesafterdark.com
I'm with you, Nikki. I planned on making some heart garlands and giving gifts to all my co-workers, but it just didn't happen. Maybe next year I can actually make it happen!
DeleteI'm not going to lie, I just pinned your adorableness as an outfit to emulate, POSTHASTE. Love the cuffed jeans with the nude heels, love the jacket/top/necklace, love it.
ReplyDeleteThis year for Valentine's Day we will be having pasta carbonara (because what fun is Valentine's without the risk of death by salmonella?) with our kids. If we're going down, we're all going down together.
Hahahaha... I think your V-Day plans are the edgiest I've heard all week :)
DeleteThanks for the sweet compliment!
I love that this is subtle-y festive. That necklace is really pretty and the rolled cuffs and nude shoes make your legs look so long! I need to try that!
ReplyDeleteOh, and you can be jealous of my snow cuz im jealous of your warmth! Trade??

You always want what you don't have, right? I will totally trade you!
DeleteI love your whole outfit and it is perfect for Valentine's day! :) New follower!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Allison! I'm so glad you are here!
DeleteThis shirt is so sweet! Love the navy color with the cute print. I feel the same way you do about Valentine's, it's nice, but nothing to get all worked up about one way or the other!
ReplyDeleteExactly! It's just a corny holiday! We don't even get to take off of work for it so it's really nothing to get worked up over :)
DeleteLove how the statement necklace ties it all together!
ReplyDeletejust love // kelly
Thanks ♥
Deleteyou look amazing and I love the longer bubble necklace
ReplyDeleteThanks Priscilla! You are too sweet ♥
DeleteLove your outfit!! And love your quality pictures as well! I need to be more adventurous when it comes to necklaces :D
ReplyDeletehttp://kateslouisebeautyblog.blogspot.com/
Thanks Katie! I used to be afraid of statement necklaces too, but I'm glad I eventualy gave them a shot!
DeleteLove this outfit! Fabulous shirt.
ReplyDeleteI like Valentine's Day. I appreciate anything that gives me a push to go out on a date with my husband and spread a little extra love to my kids. No fancy gifts or even candy this year. Love can't be bought, but it can be celebrated.
~FringeGirl
So true! I'm with you - I don't even want the candy - I got rid of everything I got at work. It is nice to have a reason to celebrate a little extra though :)
DeleteI totally feel the same way about valentine's day! I think this year is the first year that I've actually made a point to wear pink (and even painted my nails pink!) but in previous years I probably would have just worn something with a hint of pink/red in the pattern just to acknowledge the holiday but not completely plan my outfit around it.
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket and the print on your top! :)
I painted my nails pink too (and I NEVER paint my nails!)! It's fun to have an excuse to do a little something extra, but not really worth it to me to go all out!
DeleteOh, it definitely makes it feel festive!!
ReplyDeleteWe are the same way...just like to keep it simple for VDay.
I love what you and your roomies used to do. So cute, and makes for some great memories.
We do have some funny pictures from our college Valentine's celebrations - it was fun back when I used to celebrate with the girls!
DeleteCompletely festive! And really cute, I love that subtle print!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie :)
Deletelove your outfit!! you look brill..
ReplyDeletehttp://supposeishouldblog.blogspot.ca/
Well, thanks!
DeleteLovely necklace!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Thanks! It's definitely one of my favorite DIYs!
DeleteI'm a sucker for anything heart, red and pink so I'm totally loving this outfit! :). That necklace is totally festive! :)
ReplyDeleteXo,
Amor GLAMOROZA
Thanks, Amor! I don't usually wear a lot of pink, so this was a way for me to ease into it :)
DeleteLove the outfit and it is very festive without being over the top "Holiday". Love the necklace and that jacket is super cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ches - I'm not the most "festive" person, so I am glad this shirt brings a little in with the hearts, but not too much!
Deleteyou are soooo cute! xoxo linds {{www.rubygirlblog.com}}
ReplyDeleteThanks!!! ♥♥♥
DeleteI definitely feel the same way about Valentine's Day! I actually think it's more fun when you are single and get to spend date night with girlfriends! My husband and I don't do gifts but usually go out to dinner...eventually.
ReplyDeleteLove your bubble necklace!
~Jessica
Jeans and a Teacup
Seriously! I mean, I love my husband, but when I celebrated with my friends it was more silly, goofy fun!
DeleteI am in love with that that blouse. Love I say! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and i feel the same about Valentine's day, if it's here, it's here. My fiance and I didn't even really do anything (granted we both had exams), but I did enjoy our little dinner and catching up on TV shows Valentine's day.
kristina
ps. thanks for following along! :D
Exactly! On the actual day of Valentine's, we ate chili and watched the Office at home. Not exactly crazy romantic, but it was exactly how I wanted to spend the evening :)
DeleteSuper cute! I LOVE that shirt. So cute. And I can't believe you bought that necklace on Ebay! I kind of forget Ebay exists, but maybe I shouldn't. That outfit is very Valentine's :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I usually forget about eBay too - recently my friend scored some brand new boots for half the price... then I found this necklace for like $8. Score!
Deletevery cute!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elizabeth!
DeleteAshley,
ReplyDeletethat necklace is so sweet. I really like the fact you didn't go all out in pink. The necklace totally works against the navy. May just have to copy this look...!
x Elena @ Randomly Happy
Aw, thanks Elena! I don't really have many pink or red clothes, so I was trying to figure out a way to look "valentines-y" - I'm glad it turned out ok!
DeleteBeautiful outfit. That jacket really completes it! I host a style link party every Monday and would love for you to join! http://fashionsgreatesthits.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-first-ever-my-style-monday.html
ReplyDeleteThanks Kayla! I will check out your link up!
