Before I get to the outfit, let me just say that it has been a weird week. I got off of work early on Monday to go home and prepare for a blizzard, then no blizzard came (boo!). My beloved rain boots busted open while I was wearing them (and resulted in soggy socks for an entire day). I also had my first experience with someone "catching" Eric and I taking outfit pictures. We take them in the alley behind our house and yesterday evening there was a Cox man parked back there, working on our neighbor's house. I'm sure he thought we were crazy. I wanted to try to explain
"Um, I have this blog..." But then, I just decided to let him think we were crazy, because let's face it, taking pictures of your outfit
IS kind of crazy.

My shoulder hurts?! |
Hahaha right now, my husband and I take my pictures in the lobby-ish area of our apartment, and it's definitely nice and awkward when someone walks in and here's my husband, in gym shorts and flip flops, and here's me, dressed to the nine's and posing. No one's asked us any questions, but fingers crossed for when spring comes and we head back outside!
ReplyDeleteBtw, I love your skirt! I've been going back and forth over whether or not to purchase a navy polka dotted skirt. It looks SO cute but I wonder if I'd find enough ways to wear it.
Haha, that is awesome! I'm sure people in your apartment building try to come with stories about why you are doing it... I wonder what they think!?
DeleteI am so thankful that I found this skirt at a thrift store! I've actually been surprised at how many times I've already worn it!
class and so pretty!

HA HA HA! Yes! I felt like an idiot taking photos at a restaurant this past weekend. I'll admit it was my first time with my big ol'camera ;)
ReplyDeleteBut I just kept acting like I do this all the time and that it's normal... Pshhh.. ;)
Anyway, I love this outfit! I wanted that sweater in mustard so badly! I actually bought this maroon one for my friend. :) And that skirt is fantastic! But you can sell me anything with polka dots on it ;)
Oooh pictures at a restaurant - you are braver than me! I just hide out in the back alley - someday hopefully I'll be brave enough to venture out in public :)
DeleteI almost got the mustard sweater! I wish I had - the shape of the cardigan is really professional and I feel like it makes everything I wear look a little nicer!
love this post!
ReplyDeletewould you like to follow each other?
if u like my posts))
flw me and tell about this!
I hope to hear from you soon!

haha before i read this, i was hoping that "getting caught" meant that someone saw you taking pictures. i can only imagine eric's and your commentary on the situation. :) love the outfit too!
ReplyDeleteHaha, Eric was actually less embarrassed than I thought he would be. I guess I've really converted him :)
DeleteUmmmm....I'm madly in love with that skirt. Polka dot heaven!!!
ReplyDeleteThe other day I was taking photos with a timer outside on the back porch-ish area at my fiance's duplex.. well, the neighbors are REALLY close, and they must have been in their kitchen or something, because they came bursting through their back door trying to figure out what the annoying beeping noise was. I just awkwardly walked right back into the house, pretending I had no idea what they were doing, it was super awkward.
ReplyDeleteI love that cardigan, and the detailing on the button-up is gorgeous!

Hahahaha that is awesome! I would have done the exact thing - pretended like nothing happened!
Deletelove the polka dots against your burgundy cardigan! i just LOVE when my neighbors catch us taking pics, some just walk to their cars but others actually stare! lolol (total sarcasm)

I stay inside for my outfit pics right now since it's always dark when I take them. Not sure if I will be brave enough to take them outside since we are so close to our neighbors :) love this outfit! That skirt is too cute and I love the sweater color. This would be perfect office wear for me
ReplyDeleteOooh being close to your neighbors is difficult with picture-taking. We're pretty close, but luckily the alleyway is kind of private (or at least it was - until the Cox man showed up!).
Delete"My shoulder hurts" - LOL! I never know what to do with my hands in my pictures.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, crazy is the new normal. :)
Well, let's just say that I'm way normal then :)
DeleteAnd yes - what the heck am I supposed to do with my hands?! I feel silly doing anything besides smiling with my hand on my hip...
I get busted for having my picture taken all the time. But it appears even weirder because my 7 year old takes all my pics.:) Love these pics of you - those polka dots are super fun!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I just imagined that scene and it was pretty awesome! You have a pretty talented 7 year old!
DeleteI love this! Your skirt is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe shirt with the lace? Love. It. And I found out yesterday my son just tells people "she has a blog" when they see me photographing something odd (like a tangerine on the ground). I suppose he thinks that explains everything...and he's not wrong, really.
ReplyDeleteI literally just laughed out loud! I'm glad that being strange is totally OK if you have a blog (according to your son)!
DeleteYou look great. Love the skirt & the cardi and I am amazed by your DIY Button-down. I think you need to post OOTD at least bi-weekly. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ada! You are too kind!
Deletecute outfit! So happy to have stumbled across your blog. It's so cute! Hope you will stop by mine. Annndd I'm your newest follower hey hey hey!

Completely loving that you "got caught" taking pictures for your blog. It's always so awkward. I fight the urge to apologize/explain with "I have a blog..." Way cute outfit! Such about the blizzard that wasn't. I was hoping for a snow day.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I know! I kept seeing all these pictures of people on social media, all curled up in their pajamas watching a movie... meanwhile I was at work. I'm guessing I've got about a 2% chance of getting a snow storm in March :(
DeleteI've got about a million getting caught photos that range from awkward to frightening. At this point, I only try to hide to an extent. And very rarely does anyone ask what I'm doing, or show any interest if I tell them about the blog. That's people for you.
ReplyDeleteLove your cute polka dots and the lace trim on the blouse!
Chic on the Cheap
I think I need to be more like you - just embrace it. I just wonder what the heck the Cox man thought we were doing. I would love to know!
DeleteMy neighbours are all in on my secret now too. Thanks for linking up with WW :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny. I have people look at me weird when I'm taking pictures of products in the store. I'm following you via GFC. I host Fluster Creative Muster Party on Wednesdays and I would love it if you would come by and party with us. Hope to see you there!

Haha, taking pictures in stores is the hardest FOR SURE. I always try to hide because I think "what if this is illegal?!" Ha.
DeleteI'll stop by the link-up - thanks for letting me know!
i get caught by the same (male) neighbor all the time. and i don't know him very well, so i feel odd explaining. oh well!! he probably just thinks i'm super vain! sorry you're having a not so great week. i hope it gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, I love the dots and the DIY of it all!

Love those boots! thanks for stopping by my blog! I love yours!
ReplyDeletehaha, that's too funny! but if your husband is taking your pictures and people giving you weird looks makes you feel weird, think about getting caught taking pictures with a tripod. Today I was posing with my tripod and usually I just wait until people walk by, but these three people were just walking SUPER SLOW and were practically staring at me, wondering what I was doing. After they walked past, the old man kept turning around and looking at me. YES I AM TAKING PICTURES OF MYSELF. MOVE ALONG NOW.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I can imagine it would be MUCH more awkward with only a tripod! Oh man, I can literally imagine exactly how you felt. SO awkward!
DeleteReally loving the denim and oxblood combo! :)

Love this color combination! And the lace detailing on your blouse is such a great touch! I totally know the feeling of blizzard prep...then no blizzard. And, that awkward feeling of being caught in the act! ;)

It's awful! We got off of work early to go home and prepare for the impending blizzard... I sat at home, bundled in my sweats, waiting around for snow to come that never did :(
Deleteoh my glob! your diy-ed shirt is fabulous! i want to make one for myself! i love it with the polka dot skirt!
ReplyDeleteI now take pictures myself with a tripod and do it in an alley near my work which is in a busy office area. I always get stares but in my head I convince myself of the story I would tell them if they asked, so I just kinda talk myself through it (in my head) as I am doing it and looking like a weirdo. Yep !
