Ahhh... washi tape. I read about it for the past year or so, without really knowing what it was. I mentioned it to my husband and he said "um... why is called 'washi'... isn't it just decorative tape?" Well, yes it is. I know it originated in Japan, but luckily it has become widespread enough that you can now find it at the best place on earth, Target.
I store mine in an old pickle jar. Because, well why wouldn't you? Anyway, I made this easy-peasy little tape garland for the
new office mantle, and I love it. Plus, it was free (aaaaand so is every single project I've been mentioning lately!).
I used twine as the "base," but you could use ribbon, yarn, anything really. Just flip the tape over the twine, stick it together and cut it off with a triangular indention.
Easy, right? What do you think? Have used 'washi' tape before? Have you seen any cool projects using it?

Jessica you definitely need some! I seriously use it for so many things!
DeleteGotta love old pickle jars :)
Super cute, chic & colorful. Love the Aquas, Turquoise, Teals & Oranges - they pair so well together. I love keeping vases around my house and decorating little jar glasses whenever I can so this garland project is something I know I could do. I could also stick them to glasses as a ribbon. I will have to look for these when I come to the States and shop at Target - one of my most favorite places, too.

Have A Fab Week, Girl. <3 Ada.
Yes - you can definitely use washi tape in place of ribbon in most circumstances. It's also not super-sticky so it is easy to remove so it's perfect for sprucing up almost anything!
DeleteThanks for including me in the best looks, Ada - I'm so honored!
I have to say, I love the idea of reusing your pickle jar :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha yes! Of course it's partially to reminisce on all the good memories we had while snacking on pickles :)
