Outfit of the Week - Green & Gray

I'm not a very dressy person, but I love getting dressed up every once in a while. When I bought this skirt I figured I would have plenty of ways to wear it, but then when I wanted to wear it to a friend's wedding a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't figure out what to do. Of course I kept thinking things like, "if I had a peter pan collar white top or a nice gray sweater..." but then I got hardcore on my inner-self and said "No, Ashley! You're working with what you have, remember?! Oh yes, I just wrote an internal dialogue with myself. That's not weird or anything. Ahem. This is how I ended up wearing the skirt to the wedding:

Skirt: Dillards (similar
Gray Shirt: H&M
Tights & Heels: Target
Necklace & Bracelet: F21 (similar)

  1. Stopping by from Pleated Poppy as your lovely skirt caught my eye! It looks great with the tights and tee - way to work with what you have.

  2. Stopping by from Pleated Poppy... LOVE your outfit! I just adore the skirt - the sparkly detail of it and the color. And I love how you paired it with a simple tee and how the necklace balances it out. So perfect!

  3. I love your skirt. You look really pretty. I always doubt myself when I want to wear dark tights with a light skirt, but I love this. You're making me realize it's a good thing.

  4. Love the beaded skirt & also a denim shirt / jacket would work with the skirt. No on the Black tights - too dark - I'm thinking grey, nude or silver tights.

    1. I completely get what you're saying on the black tights. I think I went with them because I only own black heels and I thought light colored tight would look bad with black heels. Maybe if I had nude or gray pumps the outfit would work with lighter tights? Not sure... thoughts?

    2. The black pumps are versatile & cheaper to get tights than pumps. Happy shopping whatever you decide - the skirt is georgeous.

    1. It's hard sometimes isn't it? It's so easy to wish for more clothes, but I'm determined to not regret blowing my budget at the end of every month!

  21. Great skirt and props to you for choosing not to race out and add to it. I think we all have these tricky items we love but feel tricked as to how to style them. You've really done well. Thanks for joining up with Wardrobe Wednesday :-)

Thanks so much for your comment! I reply to my comments via email, but I can't do that if you are a no-reply blogger (if you don't know what that means, you probably are). Check out this tutorial to fix it!
