I'm back with another bathroom update! Wooo hooo.
You can read about the bathroom before here and phase 1 here. Phase 2 of the makeover was wallpaper removal and paint colors.
First, we had to take down the wallpaper that was "sagging" (for lack of a better word). Here is a reminder of what it looked like:
Not a bad pattern, but so poorly put up. All you need to remove wallpaper is:
Just poke holes in the wallpaper with a wallpaper cutter or some other device. I used a trowel and sliced long slits all over the paper. I think a wallpaper cutter would have been more effective, but since I only had one wall to remove the paper from, it wasn't bad at all. Mix warm water with fabric softener (about half-and-half) and spray it on the wallpaper as you go (you want to keep the water warm). Let it set for a couple of minutes then just peel it off! Voila!
Once the wallpaper was off, we started to paint. I chose a light light gray for the walls (so light it almost looks white). And then I decided I wanted to paint the ceiling. Green, actually. I don't know why I wanted to do this and I don't really know how it's all going to work out. But I have high hopes.
We started with this color on the ceiling:
We painted half the ceiling and I decided I hated it. Not the green I was looking for. But you know what? No problem. It's just paint. So we bought another can and painted it this color:
Thaaaat's what I'm talking about. It's called Vegas Green. Which is kind of a gross name, but oh well. It looks exactly right.
So here is the finished paint project:
It's definitely still lacking something so we'll see what we come up with. I guess you're supposed to have a plan when you start a bathroom makeover... But I think anything is better than the before.
